Overview The Staff Accountant I performs a variety of routine accounting tasks in the areas of financial reporting, reconciliations, and cash management for multiple operating companies.
The Staff Accountant I is expected to be able to perform tasks in a self-sufficient manner while owning work product, work load, and customers.
Roles & Responsibilities Actively participate in month-end close process Check off completed tasks on the monthly detailed close schedule Analyze and prepare recurring adjusting journal entries Reconcile general ledger accounts Reconcile bank accounts Assist in preparing materials for annual external audit and quarterly reviews Obtain knowledge and support processes of various departments (AP, AR, Payroll, etc.
) Ensure SOX compliance in all activities performed Assist in preparing materials for annual SOX audit Participate in monthly and annual inventory activities (physical adjustments and reconciliations) Analyze detailed accounting data Research and correct account discrepancies Perform other duties as assigned Essential Skills and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to solve problems in a positive manner Ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities/projects in a professional manner Results-oriented with the ability to adapt to a changing environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong analytical and follow-up skills with attention to detail Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel Strong customer service orientation with a high energy level Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals Ability to work under pressure of strict deadlines Ability to work in a team environment Commitment to company values Physical Requirements: Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs.
Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, computer terminal and keyboard, facsimile, calculator, and understands computer basics.
Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management.
Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.
