Business partner role interacting with financial leadership to improve quality and availability of
financial information for decision making.
Focus on special projects including KPI/Benchmarking development, budget formation, pro formas for new programs, statistics accumulation, and review of existing system and data collection processes to enhance understanding and automation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Research of raw data sources for understanding, verification and development of financial information reports to support departmental and senior leadership.
Recommend improvements to business direction based on findings from data mining projects Development, automation, and maintenance of KPI dashboard for financial and operational statistics Development of pro formas based on medical reimbursement criteria Development of productivity reporting/statistics to facilitate staffing improvements Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
Coordinate the development, implementation and monitoring of the annual operating budget, ensuring departmental budget requests conform with annual guidelines.
Provide analysis of actual operating results and year-to-date and compare to projected performance; interprets data and presents the results of financial operations to Finance management; provides financial analyses, reports and information to department heads to assist in decision-making.
Monitor financial trends and budgeted revenues and expenditures of to ensure that fiscal responsibility and control is maintained.
Work with existing staff for development and knowledge transfer.
Liason to Financial Administration for FP&A activities and forecast development, sensitivity analysis and scenario modeling of critical issues tied to bond covenant maintenance and improvement.
Providing input to global modeling of organizational targets supporting forward budgeting.
Availability for special proforma assignments of feasibility assessments as assigned.
Maintain confidentiality in all financial department activities.
Abides by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability privacy and security regulations regarding all aspects of Protected Health Information (PHI).
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: Basic understanding of hospital patient accounting, revenue cycle, and reimbursement practices.
Advanced knowledge with computers and Microsoft Office programs (WORD, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
Visual Basic (VBA) coding and troubleshooting knowledge to create automated processes and maintain existing projects SQL query knowledge preferred – Do they use this or have access to it? Knowledge of relational database modeling Keen analytical, logic, and troubleshooting skills Strong ability to data mine from various resources for accuracy of statistics Reviewing and analyzing data to uncover patterns or trends in behavior Understanding of medical coding for statistics development Understanding of revenue cycle and ability to create statistics to monitor performance Understanding of government reimbursement and commercial reimbursement contracts Understanding of accounting policies in healthcare environment High level of customer service skills and ability to deal with all types of situations and problems in a calm and professional manner.
